Shatter Me shattered me. Yes, that’s lame BUT OH GOD. At the beginning it took me a while to get into the story, but as I read through Juliette’s confinement I slowly fell in love with this book. I loved Adam, and Juliette, and Kenji and James; and hated Warner with all my guts. I don’t get why everyone loves him so much… I say “KILL IT WITH FIRE!”.

BREAKING NEWS: I forgot James’ name because I’m horrible with names. I went to google and proceeded to search “adam’s brother name shatter me” AND F*CK I JUST GOT SPOILED. I AM SO MAD. THIS IS ALLEGIANT ALL OVER AGAIN BECAUSE UNRAVEL ME IS DESTROYED. I AM SO ANNOYED. Getting spoiled just endangered my continuation with this series so I hope I forget the spoiled info. DAMN YOU GOOGLE.

After the little rant, the following premise is taken off GoodReads:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

Okay, I breathed and I’m not as furious. I’m just going to sleep and forget the spoiler because I will forget it even if I have to reach into my brain and pull the memories out!

I adored Tahereh Mafi’s writing. There was something magic about the prose, about the way Mafi describes moments and about the way she builds the plot. The crossed-out sentences added SO much to the story. It was different, gripping, and it let you into Juliette’s mind; letting you explore the hidden part of her. It revealed what she kept hushed and I felt like it built a tight connection between the reader and Juliette.

The pace of the book was great. It started out a little slow but there was a moment there where everything exploded and I was hooked. I read the last half of the book in one day which is crazy for me since I usually take around 3-5 days to finish a book. The world building was clear and concise though I would’ve appreciated a little more of it. Hopefully, Mafi’s saving that world building for the second book!

The Reestablishment and Omega Point were a little blurred to me. I was left with question as to what these two organizations dedicated their time to. I mean, Omega Point was pretty clear but I still have a lot of questions on it. I’m just curious, okay?

The characters were fantastical! Juliette was a strong female lead with obvious trust issues which I would have x2 if I went through half of the things she’d gone through. She was very determined and smart but very insecure of her power. I absolutely loved whenever she used her power and learnt new things about her gift. I can’t wait for her to learn more about and take control of it!

So, my Royal List of Fictional Boyfriends grew with this book. Yes. Adam. A-D-A-M. I couldn’t help but swoon every time he talked, or kissed Juliette, or walk, or anything. I loved everything about him but his relationship with Juliette… sometimes. It is not jealousy I promise! At times I thought their relationship was very creepy with the whole “I was looking for you for years even though I didn’t really know you” thing. On the other hand, I hated Warner. I don’t get all the hype and love for him. I literally can’t stand him.

Shatter Me was a great start to the series and I’m excited to see what’s next for Juliette and the rest of the characters. I would recommend this book to everyone so go read it now!
